Create Supportive Framework for Frontend Maintainers

The Challenge

The Frontend Maintainer Team is growing, and so is the organization. It's objectively difficult to keep up with everything. Some common problems are:

  • The knowledge might be outdated
  • Don't know what's the latest stance on X
  • Not in sync with others

A recent discussion In Slack highlights parts of the problem:

Therefore I plan to do the following over this quarter.

The Plan

  • Organize bi-weekly alternating calls for Maintainer Team to have a forum to talk about current challenges.
  • Update and extend documentation around Maintainers
  • Create a maintainer team page
  • Structure a shared Google Drive for Maintainers
  • Look into potential traintainer issues that can be self organized

The Results

Ideally, there is a tangible result with the maintainer team having the right place to talk through all relevant topics. Maintainers should feel more in line with each other and the latest best practices.

My Role

It's important for me to state that my role in this whole initiative should only be a supportive one to help facilitate what the team ends up thinking is right.
