Async Workshop: Design systems alignment
Purpose
With https://gitlab.com/gitlab-com/Product/-/issues/13078+, we have a new stage group focused exclusively on the design system. This is a good time to align on our definitions and goals for the design system as well as the roles and responsibilities for the people interacting with the design system.
It's a safe assumption is that we might each have a different ideas here, so the purpose of this workshop is to simply identify the areas of alignment that already exist and the misalignments that we'll need to resolve as we start to set a direction for the team.
Process (async)
We'll start with an independent brainstorm around the goals for Pajamas, boundaries of the design system, and role of the Design systems team before asking participants to complete an exercise indicating their agreement/disagreement with the prior responses.
| Who | Due date | |
|---|---|---|
| Step 1: Independent brainstorm exercise | All participants | Wednesday, May 22 |
| Step 2: Consolidate similar responses | @chrismicek | Thursday, May 22 |
| Step 3: Alignment exercise | All participants | Friday May 24 |
Note: The timelines are tight, but unfortunately this is the only week when everyone is working until the end of June.
