Measuring Membership / Program Member Definitions

Summary

This issue plans a new process for measuring the membership of the GitLab for Education Program and setting new member definitions.

Example:

• Total program members
• Active program members
• Inactive/churn program members
• Institutions vs. users

This should also address problems in the existing Tableau dashboard metrics such as:

1. Each new month the active members (institutions & users) resets to 0
2. OKR/KPIs for program growth cannot accurately be tracked until a month has concluded
3. Inability to monitor engagement with at risk program members or re-engage lapses program members

Next steps

• Refine the program member definitions
• Add program member definitions into the handbook
• Create issue request with Data team on creating new dashboard for measuring membership metrics
