📚 Materials
🤝 Activities
For better results, we'll do a mix of sync and async work. Everything needs to be completed by Dec 17 so we have enough time to complete the rest of the work in FY22-Q4.
🆕 Sync intro session Nov 30
(50 min)
1.
- Before: Watch this short intro video (10 min).
- During:
- Facilitator starts recording and introduces today's activity. Anyone can ask questions about the activity. (5 min)
- Silently, everyone adds stickies with ideas for the STEPS in the 🧠 STEPS BRAINSTORM. Follow your hypotheses and assumptions, they don't have to be validated or “right”. Focus on quantity, not quality. (10 min)
- Silently, everyone groups similar stickies into clusters. They don't have to be neatly organized. (5 min)
- Everyone discusses the clusters. (15 min)
-
🎉 Celebrate! Facilitator wraps-up the session and reminds everyone about the next steps.
- After:
- Everyone shares their thoughts and learnings from this activity in the corresponding epic intro thread.
- Facilitator adds single stickies to the STEPS in the
🗺 MAP. - Facilitator uploads the recording to these YouTube playlists: Create stage User Journey Map, Create Stage, and Create UX. Set video to private if unSAFE information was shared. Share recording link in the corresponding epic thread.
📝 Async individual work Dec 1–15
(2h)
2. For this individual work, we recommend everyone setting aside 2 hours of focus time during the time period indicated above.
During this time period:
- Everyone adds stickies with ideas for the other sections of the map — you can also add other STEPS if you'd like. Follow your hypotheses and assumptions, they don't have to be validated or “right”. Try to rehearse the actual user flow, going through the different steps and actions, putting yourself in the persona's shoes as they use GitLab and other tools. Focus on quantity, not quality.
- Facilitator should remind people to contribute before the deadline.
🏁 Sync wrap-up session Dec 16
(50 min)
3.
- Before: Review your colleagues stickies in the mural and add questions/thoughts as comments.
- During:
- Facilitator starts recording and introduces today's activity. Anyone can ask questions about the activity. (5 min)
- Everyone reviews the user journey: add questions/thoughts as comments, add more stickies, and think about which ones they have the least confidence on. Which ones are you unsure if Sasha does, feels, thinks, or experiences? What should we research? Each person signals when they are done. (5 min)
- If there are comments, facilitator reviews and invites discussion scoped to each one. After all comments are reviewed, anyone can raise additional questions/thoughts. (10 min)
- Each person shares the stickies they have the least confidence on, and explain why. (20 min, 5 min per person)
- Silently, everyone votes on the top 5 stickies they have the least confidence on. (5 min)
- Everyone discusses the voting results. (5 min)
-
🎉 Celebrate! Facilitator wraps-up the session and shares next steps.
- After:
- Everyone shares their thoughts and learnings from this activity in the corresponding epic wrap-up thread.
- Facilitator uploads the recording to these YouTube playlists: Create stage User Journey Map, Create Stage, and Create UX. Set video to private if unSAFE information was shared. Share recording link in the corresponding epic thread.
