Investigate why some self-managed installs are still using third-party registries
Context

Although external container registries that are compliant with the OCI Distribution Specifications are compatible with GitLab, we strongly advise everyone to use the GitLab Container Registry for the following reasons:
- We rely on custom capabilities specific to the GitLab Container Registry to provide new features which may not be available when using GitLab with external container registries.
- Because we cannot assert the correctness of external container registries, any problems with an external container registry's integration with GitLab will need to be reproduced against the GitLab Container Registry to warrant an investigation.
At the time of writing, telemetry indicates that only 1% of instances are using a registry that's not branded as GitLab.
Task
It would be good to dig deeper and try to understand what makes up this 1%. I recall this being 3% a few months ago. It's possible that some or all of these 1% are the oldest instances where the registry was still not advertising itself as "GitLab".
