Run and measure performance of GitLab on 2GB against a scaled down reference architecture
From a slack conversation in the g_memory channel, the question was posed: Now that we've enabled Puma by default can we reduce the memory requirement of GitLab from 4GB to 2GB? https://about.gitlab.com/install/
Goal
Test GitLab while running with 2GB of memory.
Steps
- Use a scaled down version of the 1k reference architecture with a smaller number of users.
- Omnibus install (already a part of ref architecture)
- Run GitLab
- Measure performance
- Document results, especially noting performance issues
- Update documentation based on the results
