Go install requires go version 1.25.4; README doesn't match
Checklist
-
I'm using the latest version of the extension (Run
glab --version) - Operating system and version: WSL Fedora 41
Summary
The README for this repo says to compile the source I need go version 1.22+ (I have 1.24.8), and to then run go install .... When I do that, it says "go: gitlab.com/gitlab-org/cli/cmd/glab@main: gitlab.com/gitlab-org/cli@v1.79.1-0.20251205095451-1efd5c1cbb4a requires go >= 1.25.4". That doesn't match. And perhaps more importantly, holy cow, 1.25.4 was released literally a month ago. I can't install this from source if I'm a mere month behind on the go version?? ... Okay, that's not more important than the README mismatch, but it seems unreasonable to require such a recent version of go.
Steps to reproduce
- Have go version less than 1.25.4
go install gitlab.com/gitlab-org/cli/cmd/glab@main
What is the current bug behavior?
go: gitlab.com/gitlab-org/cli/cmd/glab@main: gitlab.com/gitlab-org/cli@v1.79.1-0.20251205095451-1efd5c1cbb4a requires go >= 1.25.4
What is the expected correct behavior?
glab installs
