Option to use linux-like bash shell natively
What made the biggest burden for me when migrating my private windows runner to shared runner, was the fact I had to use powershell. I agree it is good default for Windows environment, but I would like to request an easy option for users to use linux-like bash instead.
This can be effectively done using software like mingw, msys, cygwin.
In yaml that could be extra variable shell
that could control that.
It could also greatly simplify yaml file. I needed to duplicate many anchors to have a extra windows-specific syntax for them. Minimal example:
.download: &download
- curl -s https://download.me
.download-win: &download-win
- curl.exe -s https://download.me
There are much more. The most common I was being hit by is that windows masks curl
or R
with different applications, or quoting "
and '
works differently.
Thank you
