"ERROR: Registering runner... forbidden (check registration token)" after fresh helm install
After installing gitlab with helm, I am having difficulties gettinng gitlab-runner up.
First, I ran into issue #441, with gitlab-runner deployment ignoring custom CA's setting, for which I manually applied the workaround provided. Then gitlab-runner does manage to connect to gitlab, but fails to register, with the following output:
Registration attempt 28 of 30
Runtime platform arch=amd64 os=linux pid=472 revision=436955cb version=15.11.0
WARNING: Running in user-mode.
WARNING: The user-mode requires you to manually start builds processing:
WARNING: $ gitlab-runner run
WARNING: Use sudo for system-mode:

WARNING: Support for registration tokens and runner parameters in the 'register' command has been deprecated in GitLab Runner 15.6 and will be replaced with support for authentication tokens. For more information, see https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab/-/issues/380872
ERROR: Registering runner... forbidden (check registration token) runner=ioe98xWP
PANIC: Failed to register the runner.
After a while, k8s steps in and kills the pod, restarts it later, same result.
This is with chart: gitlab-7.0.1
For gitlab-runner I didn't include any settings in values.yaml, so they are all the default values still. The global section only specifies the hosts, ingress and initialRootPassword settings, plus these:
global:
edition: ce
certificates:
customCAs:
- configMap: my-ca-bundle
