Reconnect Gitlab Runner after System reboot?
Hello There,
i am using a "specific runner" for my project. The machine is a Windows 11 running Gitlab Runner as a Docker container. But anytime if Windows has run an update and needs to reboot in this process the runner loses his connection towards the associated runner instance on gitlab.com.
It appears to be needed then to re-register the runner on gitlab spawning a new runner instance on the settings tab and re-assigning this to the project. Which also only the project owner can do.
I've tried to reconnect the runner to its own gitlab instance getting the unique ID like "(CFxszyzF)". But the runner does not reply the "alive" statement and its unique ID which gets me that it actually does not or can not reconnect to this runner instance on gitlab.
If you wonder what i mean with a Gitlab Runner instance refer to the screenshot ! Bildschirm_foto_2023-01-03_um_10.12.03
My question now is: is it possible to reconnect towards such an instance after a system reboot of the runner host or other likewise disconnection? Because it is actually a pain in the bud at least checking every week if the runner is still going and if not to create a new instance and changing it inside gitlab settings back to the project.
kind regards,
