Quality of workspace
The home office is the only alternative to the dreaded, unproductive, distracting open plan office. The legends about open space abound, labeled "serendipity", "collaboration" etc, but they are revealed as just HIPPOs by scientific studies. Given the cost of office space in many locales, very few companies offer offices to any employees but a few select executives (it's not unusual to see managers reserving conference rooms for days on end to compensate). Home offices tend to be bigger, brighter, quieter and just better than anything a typical company can ever offer. Even companies that spend lavishly on brand new HQs privilege visual impact over demonstrated productivity benefits. Remote work enables the home office to become the only workspace we need, and the best. I propose we add a numbered list item to both Advantages for employees and Advantages for organizations section, as productivity goes both ways.
