An update on definitions in the handbook (sourced vs. prospect vs. canidate)

Mark 'Doobles' Deubel requested to merge MarkDeubel-master-patch-07908 into master

Why is this change being made?

The current definitions between a sourced person and a prospect seems slightly incorrect.

A sourced person is in its simplest definition someone who has been found by either the TA team or Hiring team after a (combined) Sourcing effort. The person that is sourced is (often) not aware that they have been sourced, nor did they have any contact with TA or Hiring team members. A sourced person is in its purest form someone that is of interest to us, but there has been no communication.

A prospect is someone that has been approached after a sourcing effort and that is interested in obtaining more information about the position, or the company as a whole. The prospect did not implicitly indicate that they are ready to interview for a specific position. They are simply interested in more information. They are entered into Greenhouse as a Prospect.

A Candidate is someone who actively indicated that they are not only interested in the position, but are willing to start the interview process. This can be after they have been sourced, indicated their interest (Prospect), and actively indicated that they want to start the interview process. Or someone who actively applied via the careers site or a 3rd party like LinkedIn.
