Using Sloth to manage SEO data and process in Cloudflare
Problem
There are parts of the website with metadata issues and it would be next level to be able to solve this with a tool that integrates with our CDN.
@mnguyen4 mentioned he knew about a tool that could do this with Cloudflare, but we didn't use Cloudflare for www-gitlab-com at the time. With the recent migration of gitlab.com to Cloudflare, and plan to migrate the marketing site too we set up some time to talk to Reza and Dan from Salt Agency part of the team behind sloth.cloud.
After our intro call the Inbound Marketing team spent some time going over our wishlist for this type of tool. Going to tag Reza and Dan so they can tell us if Sloth can help us do these tasks.
- Metadata
-
Page title, page description, alt-tags, canonical -
Target templates and specific sub-folders -
Manage with login -
Can we manage with a file? This is kind of a blunt approach overall, and this would give us the ability to target a URL instead of applying changes to a sub-folder or managing all of the individual URLs in a user interface
-
- Redirects
- Migrate to Cloudflare
-
Share redirects.yml source -
Want to manage this with a file
- Hreflang support
- Our plan is to keep translated page in ISO-named sub-folder
- A/B testing
- Log files
- XML Sitemap
- We have one now, it’s automatically generated and organized by latest page added to the site
- Multi-user support?
- Page speed optimization
- Can you speak to any capabilities other clients use to improve page speed?
- We’ve discussed adding a nightly job to optimize all new images
- We need to send the right size image to mobile
