Blog post: Webhooks to trigger Twilio SMS/Whatsapp/Voice alerts

Triage (REQUIRED)

Please note that there is a different process for when you want to announce something via the blog. Please see announcement requests in the handbook and open an announcement request issue instead of a blog post issue.

Proposal

Hey 👋🏻,

I have recently joined Gitlab and wanted to write a blog post similar to one written by datadog which our docs point to. This way we would have an example which includes the actual Gitlab setup. Additionally our docs would include a link to our blog instead of a 3rd party site. Some ideas I had were to include one or more of these topics:

  • SMS notifications
  • Whatsapp notifications
  • Phone call notifications
  • Triggering an interim serverless function (AWS Lambda for example) to sequentially trigger notifications for a list of contacts. Once a person acknowledges the message ( "press 1/respond with 1 to acknowledge the message") the function stops to connect with further contacts.

Looking forward to your feedback @Sgittlen 🙂

Thanks,

Ted
