Top misused terms: "deprecate" ≠ "depreciate"
Briefly describe the update
Apologies, a PR would have been better, but I couldn't find where to edit the variable used on the "Common misused terms" source code quickly.
Suggestion: On Top misused terms, add a clarification that "deprecate" is not "depreciate". I've seen that confusion come up often with folks at all skill levels often enough over the last 10 years that I think we can safely say it's a common/top misused term, at least in my experience. Since it's already in the table, seems like an easy add.
i.e. you deprecate a feature, then you remove it. Whereas you buy a laptop, then its value depreciates over the next 5 years.
- deprecate ≠ remove feature
- deprecate ≠ depreciate
- deprecate = discourage use of feature, often w/ an eye towards eventually removing it
