URG Volunteer coaches: Record a video explaining your path/career in tech

Introduction

Within R&D currently we are collaborating with three vendors with the goal to improve diversity upstream. More information can be found on this handbook page: https://about.gitlab.com/handbook/engineering/volunteer-coaches-for-urgs/

Two of these vendors (Re:Learn & Latinitas) have indicated they could use content/videos to show their groups/students and inspire them on a career in tech.

Goal

To deliver a total of 5 videos from team members at GitLab about how they ended up in tech and their career in tech. We would upload these videos to GitLab unfiltered so they can be easily used by the vendors.

The goals of these videos would be to inspire the audiences of Re;Learn and Latinitas.

Audience

Latinitas provides, through after-school clubs, camps, events and publications, and channels, a space, for girls to express themselves, develop their skills, learn about their culture and discover their unique voice. Their audience are girls from different ages but mostly 9-15. More on their mission/vision can be found here: https://latinitasmagazine.org/about-us/

Re:learn helps students and schools use technology in smart ways to enhance learnings. With delivering this content we would both inspire their teachers and students as they are establishing and improving curriculum content for their programs. More information here: https://relearn.ng/

• What? A video of maximum 5 minutes recorded via Zoom how you ended up in tech and your career in tech.
• How? Upload to GitLab unfiltered and comment with the link to it on this issue.
• When? We would love to collect the videos by May 1.
