🔭 Improve handling of dots and hyphens in "name" in inventory.yml

Presently, in the docs we note that the name value is to be a unique name without hyphens or periods.

• That prevents IP addresses and most hostnames from being usable as name.
• This is a paper-cut folks notice when building out their inventory.
• We should explore doing something about this so that folks can include periods and hyphens in name.
