Revisit: Enforce single regex for checks

The following discussion from !89 (merged) should be addressed:

  While it should never be a blocker, I'd prefer if we could use the same Regex for this purpose in all checks. That's not to say that this is the best one or even the best approach to use here, but we should provide one.
