Remove references in the documentation that reference versions less than supported ones
Request for comments
Need
The current documentation has a lot of references to older/ancient versions of GitLab. For example:
We should phase those out as to keep the documentation fresh and up-to-date.
Approach
I suggest we remove wording for things that happened before GitLab version 15.0, as GitLab version 17.0 is soon to be released.
According to our statement of support - we support the latest version and the past 2 - https://about.gitlab.com/support/statement-of-support/#version-support
We can chunk this task into many smaller merge requests as its easy to collaborate and improve if needed. Similar how we worked in gitlab-org&8147 (closed)
To clarify, I don't mean removing the documentation itself, just the statements for old/ancient versions of GitLab - such as those mentioned above.
Benefit
The benefits are that, it sets the bar low for documentation updates, as well as ensures that the documentation itself is up-to-date. Furthermore, by reviewing older documentation pages we ensure that the contents of said pages is correct, as oftentimes the command changes over time, or the output itself.
Competition / Alternatives
The alternative would be to do a review on these once a year or so, however searching a very large documentation like ours will leave room for error in the form of omission.
