Better on-board customers for early expectations on getting started with GitLab

Getting started with GitLab includes registering and working with the following sites:

  • GitLab.com or self-managed
  • GitLab customer portal
  • GitLab support portal

Customers have been confused by the differences of each aforementioned resource, how each resources works (or doesn't) with the others, and the process for registering accounts with each resource. As a result, multiple customers submitted support tickets for items that could have been avoided with a proper understanding of the purposes and processes of these resources.

While not an official document, the following was prepared to explain to customers in a lightweight fashion the GitLab resources available to them and how to "get started" in each, so as to reduce customer frustration and confusion. 20200819_GitLab_sites_enablement.pdf
