Troubleshooting with k8s?

In support, we are used to having plenty of command-line tools to diagnose and troubleshoot problems on the omnibus installation. However, in Kubernetes the containers are minimal, and often lack tools like psql, redis-cli, openssl, netcat, etc. Should we be worried to bridge this gap?

I was wondering if we could have something like a service container with these tools to interactively troubleshoot the setup. I'm not sure this would be a good idea, nor if we could load the configuration from the charts into it.
