Issues with new GitLab Pages
Description of the problem
I am experiencing the same issue that was reported here
Before I get to the above (404) issue, a few things I noticed as a newbie on GitLab Pages:
- I think the line, GitLab Pages can be accessed under in the Custom Domains section here should replace https://mynamespace.gitlab.io with https://mynamespace.gitlab.io/repo-name
- It might be a good idea to point out that by default access list for GitLab Pages is restricted to authenticated users, and should be changed to avoid 401 error.
The issue I am experiencing:
While the site is accessible at https://itnoobs.gitlab.io/myblog, it's missing styling, formatting and images!
From what I can see, if I click on any links, page/post, the site address points to https://itnoobs.gitlab.io/ which causes the 404 because that's not the right path.
If I add the repository name to the address, it will load the content but obviously still missing images and styling.
To further troubleshoot and guessing that the behaviour may change by adding a custom domain, I went ahead and added gitlab.itnoobs.net to my DNS record and then GitLab pages, and it works perfectly if accessed from https://gitlab.itnoobs.net!
I should mention that there were no CI/CD issues or job failures, and this is a Jekyll site.
I am not a developer so apologies if I missed some crucial details. I am also assuming that my GitLab setup is good, because no job is failing and website is fully functional from the custom domain, but if you think otherwise, I am happy to check or change anything.
Also it would be good to make the github.io address redirect to the custom domain if that's setup, similar to how GitHub Pages handle this.
