SDR Hiring - Sourcing Diverse Candidates through SV Academy
In efforts to better align with GitLab's core value of Diversity when hiring, I'd like to open up a discussion around partnering with a company like SV Academy for sourcing more diverse SDR candidates. I believe we currently work with some third-party partners (AlwaysHired and SalesBootcamp) but what's different about SV Academy is they specialize in diverse candidates. @lindseyLturner and I had a call today with Eric Bryan (Head of Employer Partnerships) and he provided the following resources on why this would benefit our SDR organization and GitLab:
Overview Deck: https://svacademy.docsend.com/view/pxr8r7f
SV Academy SDRs are trained through a 12-week intensive internship program and supported post-hire with an additional 12 months of coaching.
Our SDRs have diverse backgrounds (60% female, 40% African-American/Latinx, 70% first-generation college graduates), and come from all areas of the US; candidates matched will either be local or committed to relocating.
It is free and no-obligation to screen resumes and interview; pay a flat scholarship reimbursement fee upon hiring.
We have a 90-day in-seat guarantee. We are confident in our graduates, with a churn rate less than half of industry average, and 70% promoted within the first year.
One down-side is they are (at this time) 100% US-based so it wouldn't help our EMEA and APAC managers/teams.
I want to reiterate how awesome our recruiting/sourcing team is and look at this option as supplemental. I personally would like to see more women applying and so revisiting the way the req is written is also an action item.
Please provide your feedback and thoughts. Happy to facilitate a call with Eric to dig in deeper.
