GitLab Mentorship Program
Goal: Build an in-house Mentorship program.
Gitlabbers can benefit from a mentoring program because they will contribute to the development of a better-trained and engaged community.
Mentors will help mentees learn the ropes at the company, develop relationships across the organization and identify skills that could be strengthened.
The GitLab community can utilize the team to expand upon the global diversity initiative.
Action Items:
-
Identify target groups - Partners identified for the Pilot Program. The initial batch of Mentees would be within their final cohort at The Flatiron school in New York. No cost to GitLab. This would provide a great working relationship for GL and Flatiron students to gain industry experience. They also have space to provide on-site sessions if needed. The East coast crew could come together for a mentor/mentee celebration. What do you think? @dplanella
-
Develop a database of active and interested Mentors who are willing to take on mentees This can be more finalized once we lock in a launch date. Jan 2019? @dplanella
-
Build promotional plan
Goals for the Mentee:
- Professional Development
- Networking
- Career Advising
