Raise broader GitLab awareness by seeding content in journalistic outlets
My initial thoughts are that we should have one longer blog post on key topics we would like to rank for and then smaller posts that we seed across relevant journalist sites and magazines. Each smaller post should drive back to the uber post.
The benefits of taking this approach are:
- Raises awareness by sharing content more broadly than our blog
- Expand the reach of our thought leaders
- Increase SEO rank if we can create more link backs across the web
- What topics should we focus on for the quarter? Based on the initial content strategy plan, my thoughts are innersourcing, open source, and version control.

@amara, when you receive the list of outlets/blogs your press team is focusing in on (whenever they share it with you, that is!), will you please share it here? Seeing that & checking out their associated social media accounts/their writers social media accounts will help me to better understand the audience (and therefore topics that audience will be most interested in).

Awesome. Let's do innersourcing and version control then. We are actually doing well on open source content lately. Also we can try and bring innersourcing and version control closer to enterprises and see if we can use it as a lead gen. @highwirepr if we wanted to make this a strategy for this quarter, can you please share what outlets and journalists we should target for the topics of innersourcing and version control?
I've had a change of heart on this and I think we should make it be about "modern development." This seems to be an overloaded term. I think we could make this an all-encompassing post that goes from unpacking what it means, to what it includes, to who is doing it, and how. Thoughts?
@AshleyS that was my thinking as well. @highwirepr please let us know what you think as well as what outlets you think we should target. Happy to share how we could breakdown content stories on the topic but I as thinking if we knew target outlets I could look into what they typically cover and shape our planning around that.

Please let us know your thoughts on the above, along with what you have in mind for potentially seeding out the content (e.g. two contributed articles mapping back to all encompassing post within a two to three month timeframe).
