Continue removing www-gitlab-com staging environment
We deleted the www-gitlab-com staging environment 7 months ago (see discussion: gitlab-com/www-gitlab-com#8383 (comment 389280803)), but about.staging.gitlab.com
still seems to be live.
Goal
We should open an infra ticket to have the related infrastructure deleted (buckets, URL mappings, domain name, etc), because it is causing confusion (related Slack thread)
@tywilliams wants to handle this because he wants to dig deeper into these systems.
Per @cwoolley-gitlab basically this site (and the prod site) are just bound hostnames pointing to GCP blobstore buckets ("static sites").
Per @brandon_lyon It'd be great for us to learn and document these systems. We might want to update the CDN too.
In scope
What is going to be added/updated/removed, etc, as a checklist:
-
Investigate the infrastructure systems -
Document findings -
Create access requests for related systems -
Outline what's needed to decommission the staging environment and file related issues
