Include Xbench in Review step

Following the Japan team's decision, we'll integrate Xbench checks into the Review step to enhance the translation quality assurance process.

Objective: Upon the agreement among, Antoine, Daniel, and Megumi, we will establish a quality assurance system with Japanese language capability to catch critical errors before delivery to GitLab.

How: Run Xbench check in Revision step

Benefits:

  1. Automated Detection of Translation Errors

    Xbench's checklist feature automatically detects common translation errors. The tool catches mistakes that are easily overlooked during manual review.

  2. Knowledge Sharing and Standardization

    Rather than limiting feedback to individual freelancers or in the feedback spreadsheet, we can share common errors and best practices through checklists. This ensures consistent quality standards across the team and prevents recurring mistakes. Let's say a translator who has been involved in this project cannot accept the jobs for a month. By using Xbench checklist, when he/she comes back to the project, the feedback can be surely shared thought the checklists. This is a learning improvement based on Phase 1. Some joined Phase 1 and Phase 1.3 and the feedback provided during Phase 1.2 was easily skipped.

  3. Significant Improvement in Review Efficiency

    Manual review has its limitations. By implementing Xbench, we can delegate mechanical checks to the tool, allowing reviewers to focus on areas requiring more sophisticated judgment.

  4. Reduced MR Review Workload

    Issues flagged by Duo during MR reviews can be added to the checklist proactively. This reduces the number of Duo comments at the MR stage, streamlining the entire review process.

  5. Additional Benefit: Partial Coverage of Martin Script

    While the primary goal is to improve efficiency and quality, Xbench checklists can also incorporate some checks currently handled by Martin Script.

Summary: Xbench check is implemented in Revision. Emi, Ai Tashiro and Kohta will work on creating checklists and share them as soon as possible. As for running Marin script in Internal LQA, I understand the reasoning behind wanting to run Martin Script again after the human review to catch any remaining errors. However, considering that it's already been run once during Translation QA and we'll also be running Xbench checks, I propose that we could eliminate it from Internal LQA, though Xbench check cannot fully cover what Martin Script checks, considering the burden on the translators, the extended lead time, extra cost and the actual benefit gained.
