GitLab.com is down (Severity 1 (Critical))

Problem: GitLab.com experienced a downtime with a 503 error.

Impact: This downtime impacted the availability of GitLab.com services for users.

Causes: The downtime was caused by issues related to a specific worker and traffic saturation affecting the primary database.

Response strategy: We implemented fixes including updating the concurrency limit and investigating pgbouncer connection pool sizes. A fix to prevent scheduling concurrent jobs was reviewed and awaits merge, and measures to improve worker data consistency and reduce database load were proposed.
