Problem: Users are experiencing 404 errors when trying to download or view specific job artifacts on GitLab.

Impact: Customers can see job artifact file lists but encounter 404 errors upon attempting to download or view select files.

Causes: The issue was caused by an upgrade affecting the handling of trailing file extensions in URLs.

Response strategy: A rollback and a revert merge request to rollback the affected upgrade have been deployed, and the deployment to production canary has been completed, with monitoring ongoing.
