2024-12-10: Users unable to use VSCode or JetBrains for Duo Chat
Customer Impact
Duo Chat is not working for most cases in VSCode and JetBrains.
Current Status
ETA for the fix to land in GPRD on Dec 11 between 12:00-13:00 UTC.
What we know so far:
- Duo Chat works on Gitlab Web and WebIDE
- Does not work in JetBrains, VSCode (nodejs runtime), or in Duo Workflow for Language Server (separate nodejs runtime). Is broken across editor extension versions (as far back as 5.18)
- Both language server and vscode (two separate implementations) get the following error:

We observed this by logging the following:
log.info(`redacted testing Cable disconnected ${JSON.stringify(reason)}`);
})
- We are seeing some 500 errors in Kibana for action cable/rails:
