Move gitlab-org/gitlab to its own file server
Sometimes the heavy usage of the gitlab-org/gitlab
project seems to be overbearing and negatively impacts file-02
. Being that we don't have single tenancy of our own projects, instead we share that file server with other customers, our own heavy usage can sometimes saturate file-02 and in turn, will negatively impact other customers on that same files server. While not scalable to consider this move for every single customer, I do wonder if our impact is heavy enough where we should consider this until improvements are made to our storage backend capabilities. It should be noted that file-02
consistently shows up as the most heavily utilized server when digging deep into the metrics found on this dashboard: https://dashboards.gitlab.net/d/gitaly-main/gitaly-overview
From a personal experience when viewing various bits of the gitlab-org/gitlab
project, render times are relatively high compared to a fork that I've created that just so happens to live on a different file server. The difference is tremendous.
