Fork the bitnami/common chart

Overview

The bitnami/common Helm chart is a very useful library chart that we use in several of our own Helm charts in https://gitlab.com/gitlab-com/gl-infra/charts and https://gitlab.com/gitlab-com/gl-infra/k8s-workloads/gitlab-helmfiles.

Unfortunately its future is uncertain after August 28th as most Bitnami Helm charts will no longer be maintained or published, and others will be behind a paywall (see announcement). It's also unlikely to remain under an opensource license.

It would be safer to use a fork of this chart, either from the community or our own, so that we can continue to use it and maintain it freely.

Proposed plan of action

  1. Be on the lookout for a community fork in the weeks before and after August 28th, if a good one appears we can switch over to it
  2. If not, fork it in https://gitlab.com/gitlab-com/gl-infra/charts
  3. Update all our charts to use either fork
