Runway Q4 Roadmap Review

Context

We have an official Runway team. We have a growing customer base. We have a solid foundation and a number of challenges ahead. Given that the team's capacity to work on Runway officially has increased, we need to review and align on the roadmap as a team.

Challenges

1. How do we scale development across the Runway team?
2. How do we work with and get insight from our customers to solve problems proactively versus reactively?
3. How do we retain the speed to solve problems quickly?
4. How do we spot and fix gaps with the platform?

Customer Voice

1. Runway works great - the simplicity to get things into production and make changes is amazing!
2. What feels like simple things are still missing/hard to do - DNS records, etc.
3. We need to get our service to Self managed customers to expand our addressable market!
4. We need to get our service to Dedicated! 😬
5. Someone said something about FedRAMP 😅 Runway can do that right?
6. Logging could be better
7. We need Database support and want it to be totally managed

Opportunities

1. New customers with DB requirements
   • CDOT
   • Switchboard
   • GitLab Secrets Manger
2. Set standards for logging on the platform in partnership with teamObservability
3. Provide standard templates (GO GRPC service) with pieces like Labkit built in
4. Improve portability and work towards multicloud with K8s based services

Let's work on this as a team - there will be a need to do some sync to talk this through. Let's prep here
