Corrective Action: Implement Transactional Monitoring for Pages service

Summary

In a recent incident we were paged for a high number of errors which we have, historically, correlated with poor customer experience. We now have sufficient evidence that error rate does not always correlate directly to customer experience. This incident is classic example.

For this incident we need to implement transactional monitoring ServicePages in Production Engineering. Doing so will allow us to capture actual customer experience instead of just error rates.
