Proposal for updated Grand Review contributions

Currently we use the Infrastructure Platforms Department epic to submit highlight information from each group on a weekly basis. We're starting to struggle with slow loading times because of the number of comments.

I'd like to propose an alternative that has some added benefits, and I have set up an example of this to demonstrate it.

Highlights Issue Per Group

On the table on the Grand Review epic, I have added a column for "Current Highlights Issue". Marin and Fabian would click through to this issue during their review. Example highlights issue for Production Engineering: https://gitlab.com/gitlab-com/gl-infra/production-engineering/-/issues/26156

The highlights issue would be created on a quarterly basis and can be used to provide the story/narrative for the team during this time. The description would include what we plan to achieve that quarter and what we are focusing on, along with any relevant documentation links that span the quarter.

On a weekly basis, the group leaders would provide an update that is reviewed by Marin and Fabian during the grand review.

At the end of the quarter, we review what we planned and how we executed against that plan.

Pros

  1. Everything about a group's progress is contained in a single location, making it easier to reference past items and find relevant links
  2. One quarter of weekly comments is still a manageble load size

Cons

  1. Marin and Fabian will need to click through to each group's highlights issue
To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have an admin enable hashed storage. More information
