Establish an organic fixed calendar for patch releases
The work done for patch and security releases has helped to schedule a bug/security release twice a month. So far, the bug/security release dates have been calculated every 23 days (based on the Release SLO). Just like the Monthly release date, which is the third Wednesday of the month, an organic calendar could be set for patch releases, for example
- Second Wednesday of the month - Bug/security release
- Third Thursday of the month - Monthly release
- Fourth or last Wednesday of the month - Bug/security release
Having a fixed schedule:
- Creates an habit by increasing muscle memory about release activities
- Help with workload planning and expectations.
- Pushes us closer to automation
- Alleviate the planning requirement of security
- Establishes a rough understanding of when bug/security releases are happening
