Migrating to GitLab from BitBucket
UPDATE (by Marcia): Okay folks interested in this thread, I'm sorry for not have been clearer in this description. We need some more robust approach here. We're interested in how to migrate your organization from BitBucket to GitLab (CE, EE, or .com). We're not talking only about pushing a button, but:
- The reasons why you migrated from BitBucket to GitLab (besides private repos)
- Why did your team decided to migrate? Did you have other options in mind? Why did you choose GitLab?
- What was easy, what was difficult
- Any mistakes?
- What do you miss from Bitbucket? What GL doesn't have and you'd appreciate if we had?
- How was the migration process (importing repos, issues, wikis, CI, team, groups, etc)?
- How was the implementation of GitLab CI to build, test, and deploy your apps?
- Would you recommend the same move to others?
- What's the best thing GitLab offered you?
Please read through this post to understand the kind of feedback we're very interested in: https://about.gitlab.com/2017/01/27/codepen-welcome-to-gitlab/. This is helpful to our (potential) audience because includes the decision-making process of migrating from something to something else, and how it went from a broader perspective.
