Discuss Plan Groups for FY21
Purpose
As we look to expand our Plan Stage to address additional opportunities in the market, we need to ensure that we map out the proper Groups and Categories that we want to leverage, to enable more efficient planning and execution.
- Establish our Desired Groups in Plan
- Map out Planned and Potential Categories to each Group

- Setting The Strategy: Themes/Initiatives, Roadmaps, Epics
- Funding The Strategy: Resource planning, capacity planning, financial management (time tracking, reports, etc.)
- Converting The Strategy To Implementation: Issues, Requirements, Feature Definition (solution to strategic objective)
- Execution of Strategy: Issue Boards, Milestones, Workflows, Quality Management, To-Dos
- Measuring Impact and ROI of Strategy / Lifecycle Management - Service Desk, Measure/Monitor Features We would also be wise to double check that we've clearly mapped our externally communicated outcomes to each Category (ies) so we have all of our bases covered as we progress throughout the year. - https://about.gitlab.com/direction/dev/

I like the high level breakdowns, though I'd suggest a few different pairings and additions :
- Ideation and Product Management Tools: Manage Net new product ideas (features, new products, etc), place to build out business cases and build What If Scenarios
- Setting The Strategy: Themes/Initiatives, Roadmaps, Epics, and high level MILESTONES (High level timelines businesses plan with, like Quarters and releases)
- Funding The Strategy: Resource planning, capacity planning, financial management (time tracking, reports, etc.)
- Converting The Strategy To Implementation: Issues, Requirements, Feature Definition (solution to strategic objective)
- Execution of Strategy: Planning Boards, lower level Milestones, Workflows, Quality Management, To-Dos
- Measuring Impact and ROI effort and mapped back to Strategy / Lifecycle Management - Service Desk, Measure/Monitor Features
