Become data-informed
Currently, we are data-blind and we need to become data-informed. We're hiring several Growth teams which will help improve our data and drive tangible improvements using this data. But being data-informed isn't isolated to Growth teams. The Product organization as a whole needs to have access to better data, and use that data in its decision making.
Note that I'm not saying we should be data-driven. Frankly, we're really far away from actually being driven by data. For one, the quality and quantity of data needs to be significantly better than today. But also, we're still driven primarily by a very ambitious vision. There's also some good arguments against being data-driven ever.
We currently have two primary sources of data:
- Usage ping
- Snowplow
And we have some indirect sources of data:
- GitLab issues
- Salesforce.com records
