Confirm Public Projects Minute Quotas

Question

Mark: I know this was true when I wrote it, but since then, I don't think we actually state that public projects get unlimited minutes, and we imply they get Gold minutes. Can you confirm this? And if so, can you make an issue to enforce minutes as such? We may have to edit blog posts if this is a policy change, but I think it's worth it and makes total sense. I suppose we should investigate if any public projects are actually exceeding 50,000 minutes currently.

Answers

In our open source solution page we state public projects on GitLab.com get access to our highest tier of features for free, plus 50,000 free CI pipeline minutes.

Shared runner minute quotas are set in the admin area by group.

As noted below

we are not applying it consistently, have no way of monitoring it, and as a result aren't doing a good job as far as the "customer" is concerned

Tasks

  • Confirm public language we state
  • Figure out how and where we set quotas
  • Confirm that we do set quotas for public projects at 50,000 CI minutes
