Add Engineer Names to Categories Page

Parent Epic: Product Handbook Updates

Overview

The challenge: Currently, on the Product stages, groups, and categories page, the content displaying team members is not easily readable and it is incomplete. We only only show the name of engineering managers, not all engineers per group/category. This creates inefficiency in that we then have to create content showing all team members in other collateral, such as the Group Conversation slides , instead of being able to just reference this page. This also makes it more challenging to find/contact a specific engineer for collaboration and it doesn't equally value the contribution of all team members.

Proposal: Update the page content for all Groups within all Sections/Stages to include engineering team members. Ideally this should be automated using a source of truth such as the YML file for the teams page. In the interim, it should be updated manually.

As team member content on the page increases, explore ways of presenting the content in an alternate format to improve readability as needed. For example, would it help to display the content more like this:

Goals

Considerations

  • Longer term, this entire page needs to have design/presentation of content reevaluated for readability and ease of use. But currently, we want to focus on addressing the first priority: representing all team members as needed.

Next Steps

  • Determine if the page content is currently manually or auto updated
    • If manual, update eng team members manually and devise plan for automaton in the future
      • Work with Static team to do a 1st iteration via the stages.yml to pull in all eng team names, in the interest of time
  • Create new issue to work with Static team on longer term fix to automate pulling from the team.yml for ALL team members, not just eng
  • Create new issue to work with design team to iterate on design
