Walk Through for Moving to Tag Based Release

I'm going to move an existing project that is continously deploying to only deploy on tags.

Brief Feature Overview and Expectations

I'll follow the docs for how to adjust my CI jobs to only run on tags, and then follow the docs for creating milestones and releases that are connected together - creating a number of MRs and issues for a milestone and then bundling those into a tag and release.

Pre-Walk Through

  • Post to shared calendar (Group, Stage or Section ones if they exist) so that other team members can attend if they wish
  • Create Google Doc
  • Update the "Brief Feature Overview and Expectations" section

During Walk Through

  • Record Video
  • Start with verbalizing the Brief Feature Overview and Expectations section
  • Capture notes for issues to file in the GoogleDoc

After Walk Through

  • Post recording to GitLab Unfiltered YouTube channels (include in the XX Section, Product Walk Throughs - XX Section, Product Walk Throughs - All playlists)
  • Share recording and this issue in appropriate #s_ and #g_ channels
  • Create follow up issues and ping relevant product managers
  • Attach issues as related to this one
