Lightweight machines coupled with lightweight system images and a browser can be a powerful tool for continuous dashboard monitoring. This page describes one setup utilizing the Beaglebone Black (BBB).
Add the dashboard user to the admin group by modifying the /etc/group file.
Log out as ubuntu, relog in as dashboard, and verify sudo access.
Delete the ubuntu user (sudo userdel ubuntu)
Update apt-get and upgrade (sudo apt-get update ; sudo apt-get upgrade)
*Install Xmonad, vim, and firefox (sudo apt-get install xmonad vim firefox xloadimage xinit)
Fix the xorg.conf default settings to something more appropriate to the BBB with this script.
