# Summary Plan and execute the Fedora presence at [FOSDEM 2024](https://fosdem.org/2024/). **Event wiki page**: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FOSDEM_2024 # Background FOSDEM is an important event for the Fedora community for a number of reasons. Here is what is already in motion: 1. [CentOS Connect](https://connect.centos.org) takes place two days before FOSDEM in Brussels from 1-2 February 2024. 2. The Fedora Project has a stand (AKA a booth) in 2024 for both days of the conference. 3. Fedora contributors are help run the [Distributions Devroom](https://lists.fosdem.org/pipermail/fosdem/2023q4/003529.html), together with CentOS, AlmaLinux, openSUSE, and Ubuntu. Now, we need to build our roster of Fedora friends who will be there, so we can plan and coordinate the stand and also our social events with the CentOS community. Some financial assistance is available for speakers and volunteers contributing under the Fedora umbrella. # Details Earlier this year, I forecasted our total event spend. Here is my current forecast. All estimates are in US Dollar (USD): * Airfare: $4000 * Hotel/accommodation: $3600 * Community social/meals: $1440 We need to allocate this funding equitably. Fedorans contributing directly to the event should receive priority for this, e.g. accepted as a speaker, volunteering with the Distributions DevRoom and Fedora stand, helping out with CentOS Connect, etc. # Outcome The Fedora Project continues to have an influential presence in the open source community around the FOSDEM 2024 event and other fringe events (e.g. CentOS Connect, CHAOSScon, etc.).
