make tests in ./tests/run-tests runnable as standalone tests
The tests were super helpful in getting !701 (merged) done but they are pretty annoying to use, if one at the end fails you kind of have to wait for the whole script to tun through again which takes almost 10 minutes.
It would be really cool if these tests were instead in separate shellscripts, run from the top-level script but runnable standalone.
Bonus points for running them silent and only dumping the output on the screen, when a particular test fails.
