F-Droid publishes alpha and beta versions
Last week, an alpha version of the app StreetComplete was published on F-Droid. I've since had to answer over a hundred emails with crash reports sent to me to explain that they should reinstall the old stable.
Looking at the StreetComplete package on F-Droid, a beta was also published for the previous version. So the issue may exist a longer time already.
As seen in the metadata the UpdateCheckIgnore field is correctly set to exclude alphas and betas.
I think especially promoting alpha versions as stable versions is a real issue, not only does it put additional stress on the app maintainers, but may lead to users rage-uninstalling the app and to a reputation that the app is unstable/crappy cause the users are of course not expecting to get unstable versions.
