DAVdroid 1.9.1 update crashes and causes reboot loop

The DAVdroid update 1.9.1 causes an instant system crash on installation, and system crashes on boot which causes a reboot loop. The problem can be solved by removing the application (e.g. in recovery mode, rename /data/app/at.bitfire.davdroid-#; I have a number 1 and number 2, not sure which one is the actual one, seems like it's number 1). Reinstalling DAVdroid 1.9 afterwards gives a working application.

Seeing that the developer seems doubtful that the problem is on his side, and that all the participants who reported the issue mention using F-Droid, I imagine the problem might be with the F-Droid build.
