com.isaakhanimann.journal ("PsychonautWiki Journal") relicensing to ARR from GPL, introducing app paywalls
The com.isaakhanimann.journal ("PsychonautWiki Journal") app is being relicensed from GPL to an ARR license (which technically it cannot be relicensed to as others contributed code under the GPL, but that's a discussion for elsehwhere), as well as adding a paywall for core features.
The author had also previously privated the github repo, but has un-privated it due to backlash. However on the github it now says:
This repo has been deprecated, ongoing development is happening in a private repo. If you want to do a fix or add a small improvement you can still do a PR on this repo, give your consent to include it in the private repo as part of a proprietary license and then your changes can potentially be included in future releases of the app.
The current version on F-Droid does not have these changes, however any future releases will.

Well, I was planning on making a fork of the PsychonautWiki Journal app to add support for me & my close friends to track each others usage remotely but when I checked yesterday all the GitHub Repo's were private. Turns out the Dev is going to make the Journal app paid.
Not sure who needs to hear this but moving a harm reduction tool from free & open source to paid & closed-source isn’t innovation—it’s regression. People who use drugs need access, not paywalls. This shift actively undermines the principles of harm reduction.
and for those who don’t know what the Psychonaut wiki journal app is, it’s a major tool in the harm reduction community that allows users to track their usage, tolerance, safety combination and much more.

After the backlash he originally reverted his statement on making the app paid and unprivateing the GitHub repositories, it appears he is now making it paid to log more than your most recent substance… jfc

his original statement on making “features” premium…. not being able to log more then your 3 most recent is just wrong
