False "New: " tag in permissions
* Device OS and version: Android 16 * Device model/manufacturer: Sony Xperia VII * F-Droid version (in the _About_ screen): 1.23.2 * F-Droid privileged extension version (if installed): no ## What did you do? (clear steps if possible) Go to Updates tab check permission of an app with available update to update to see which if any permissions are new. ## What did you expect to see? Only permissions which are new since the currently install version and the suggested update should be tagged "New :". ## What did you see instead? "New: " on a huge set of permissions which seem unchanged when comparing the permissions sections of the version on the f-droid homepage. examples: - Threma libre (ch.threema.app.libre):
update version 6.3.2l (1118)
installed version 6.3.1l (1116)
https://f-droid.org/packages/ch.threema.app.libre/ - Freebloks (de.saschahlusiak.freebloks):
update version 1.7.2 (172)
installed version 1.7.1 (171)
https://f-droid.org/packages/de.saschahlusiak.freebloks/
In this example "New: show notifications" and "New: connect to paired Bluetooth devices" are shown despite being listed as required permission on the old version. This Issue is not new and I observed this already with my previous phone and previous f-droid version, but never found energy to report it. I consider this a mayor hurdle to safely upgrade apps, if I cannot easily see is permissions change, because so many falsely claimed new permissions.
