Guess at the path to f-droid URL, given a base URL
Let me start by saing I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not. But I was just thinking about it the other day when somebody asked how to get to the guardianproject repo. Given that we already have hard coded knoweldge of potential paths where we would expect an F-Droid repo to live, may as well let people enter URL's such as:
The client could then first look at the URL it is given, looking for an "index.jar" at that path. If not found, it could proceed to check for "/fdroid/repo/index.jar" tacked onto the end of the path.
That way, people could entery the easiest possible address, without having to have an understanding or worring about remembering how the actual paths look. Indeed, we could even let them jsut type the host name, and then we could start off by guessing they wanted https:// and then fall back to http://.
